The latest animal numbers in the Kruger National Park show for some interesting reading. Animal census or animal counts are not public knowledge, like they used to be, when it comes to the Kruger National Park. However, enough research always will reveal something. Luckily we were able to find out what the latest animal numbers in the Kruger National Park are. We will discuss this more below, and show all the latest animal numbers in the Kruger.

Latest Animal Numbers In The Kruger And The Animal Count

Over the years, a few things should be mentioned. There has been an increase in a few species such as the Burchell’s Zebra, Buffalo, Kudu, Spotted Hyaena, Leopard, African Elephant and Common Waterbuck.

There has been a noticeable decrease in numbers of Giraffe, Blue Wildebeest, African Wild Dog, Cheetah and of course both Rhino species (Black and White) – but this will not be discussed on this website for poaching reasons.

We have also found some interesting information on some of the more rare animals found in the Kruger National Park, like the rare antelope species. These are not 100% accurate in my honest opinion, but we have included them. We will show the numbers in a bulleted list below…

Here Are The Latest Animal Numbers In The Kruger National Park

Park rangers and field guides from all sections of the Kruger National Park generally take part in these animal census counts, but they are not as done as often anymore, or at least they do not want it to be public knowledge, but I presume these animal counts are done every 6 months or so.

African Wild Dog – 300
Blue Wildebeest – 12,000
Burchell’s Zebra – 30,000
Common Warthog – 6,000
Common Waterbuck – 3,000
Cheetah – 150
Giraffe – 8,000
Impala – 180,000
Kudu – 7,000
Leopard – 2,000
Ostrich – 500
Spotted Hyaena – 3,000

Special Animal Census Mentions (Rare Information)

Here are some of the latest animal numbers in the Kruger National Park that are regarded as rare, or are not often counted. As mentioned above, the following numbers are not gospel, but they are a very good indication of numbers, and I do not think they are far off. A few these animal counts include the rare antelope species of the Kruger National Park, so this will also give you an idea of the chances you have of seeing them (Depending on the region of the Kruger).
