Hamiltons Tented Camp is a beautiful luxurious private tented lodge situated in a game rich area of the Kruger National Park. The camp was named after one of the most famous wardens (The first warden of the Sabi Nature Reserve) the Kruger Park has ever had, James Stevenson-Hamilton.
The man from Dublin Ireland changed the whole aspect of conservation in what is now the Kruger National Park. Stevenson-Hamilton was nicknamed Skukuza by the Tsonga People. Hamiltons Tented Camp is located within the private 10 000-hectare concession of Mluwati in the western region of the Kruger National Park, bordering the northern Sabi Sands and Manyeleti Game Reserves.

Animal Experience At Hamiltons Tented Camp
The game is plentiful in this area. Buffalo are common, and there is a resident Lion pride in the immediate area. Wild Dogs can be seen. This is prime Big 5 country and there are a variety of animals species in this region of the Greater Kruger National Park.
Impala, Warthog, Mongoose, Kudu, Baboon, Vervet Monkey, Waterbuck and Bushbuck are all common in the area. You might be lucky enough to see one of the many Leopards that frequent the area, and Wild Dog and Cheetah, if you are really, really lucky.

Birding At Hamiltons Tented Camp
Birding is a great activity in this area. It is a great place for Bird Watchers. From the camp you can easily tick off 30 species of birds from your own private viewing deck.
The rest of the area has many bushveld bird species, and you can see the Green-winged Pytilia as well as the Black-crowned Tchagra. They are quite common, but very secretive, and you can get some great photos of them. The rainy season brings in all sorts of water birds, besides the residents of the area, and in the Summer months the bush is full of all sorts of sounds, notably the Woodland Kingfisher, one of my favourite birds.
